Detailed Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Paro

  • Arrive at Paro International Airport.
  • Our guide and driver will receive from the airport.
  • Visit Tagchho Lhakhang: It was built by Thangtong Gyelpo in around 1420-30, after he had a vision of Tamdrin, the wrathful form of Chenrizig/ Avolokitesvara – the bodhisattva of compassion, with a horse neck on his head.
  • Visit Buddha Dordenma Statue. It is largest Buddha Statue in the world with 177 feet (54 m) and contains 100,000 8-inch-tall and 25,000 12-inch-tall gilded bronze Buddhas.

Day 2: Thimphu to Phobjikha

  • Enroute enjoy beautiful scene at Dochula.
  • To attend Black Necked Crane festival is organized by the Royal Society for the Protection of Nature as part of the Integrated Conservation and Development Program (ICDP).
  • Enjoy the wonderful bird arrival festive dances- A sign of paying homage to the bird that brings prosperity.

Day 3: Phobjikha to Zhemgang

  • Visit Chendebji Stupa: It built by Lam Oensey Tshering Wangchuk to repel the demon Ngalain 18th Century. It resembles Boudhanath stupa in Nepal.
  • Tingtibi: join Bird festive event which is celebrated in most unique way to showcase the richness of this avifaunal diversity.

Day 4: Tingtibi, Zhemgang

  • Stroll around, visit stalls, meet different background people at grand festive sites to interact, discuss and share views with all levels (international and local birders) and know more about Avifauna and its importance.
  • Visit Panbang Jungle lodge: Experience rafting/ boating over the pristine Manas stretch
  • Experience night halt in beautifully designed tent by the river side with facilities
  • Boating and rafting through Manas River and hike back for 1.5 hrs back to camp.

Day 5: Tingtibi to Trongsa

  • Visit Trongsa Dzong:  It is built on a spur overlooking the gorge of the Mangde River. Initially a temple was first established at the location in 1543 and in 1647 Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal constructed the first dzong to replace temple and called Chökhor Rabtentse Dzong with a shorter version of Choetse Dzong.

Day 6: Trongsa to Paro

  • Visit Chimi Lhakhang. It was built in 1499 and it stands on a round hillock.

Day 7: Departure

  • Depart from Paro Airport
